Our new tree friend

On an overcast day, the little Charlie Brown Christmas tree came to our yard to take up residence in a sunny corner.
Thanks to Dave L. at Nate's school, who had this tree in a pot for fifteen years. May it soar, (and block the view of the ghetto apts. across the alley).

Pretty good haul of artifacts from digging the hole, too, an old zipper pull from a jacket, a rim and base of an early 20th C. bottle, some whiskey bottle glass, white fixture glass, plate glass, a zinc bottle lining, etc...

Sorry no action shots of us digging but everyone was shoveling madly and no time for photos!

You are so lucky to have soil that doesn't need a pick-axe - as in grandma's backyard.
It looks very woodsy and tree-like.

The soil is absolutely amazing, soft and diggable and full of cool glass and metal!
I am tempted to get the second Charlie Brown tree my friend has and make the Pine Forest Family! Maybe next week...
