A few cute sayings from daycare! Thanks ladies!

Nate is being raised right!
While eating: "Have to put hands in lap!" (they make the kids sit, hands in lap, until everyone is ready to eat).
Ditto: "Have to eat with your mouth closed!"
Tucks in plush Hedgehog toy with goxsies (blankie): "Close eyes! Sleep! Now!"

Charming...
I ask him "Do you think that is mean, that they say to "Sleep now, close eyes??"
Nate: No!
Fine, then.
How about: "You can talk at home!" (naptime)
Everything you say to a three year old is regurgitated, so be warned!

Good things Nate learned in daycare:
* Wipes own butt (!)
* Learned how to roll (entire self, lengthwise, across room, sand, whatever).
* Puts on undies, pants, socks, shoes, etc. (not shirt yet!)
* Sings a very cute song in Mandarin, complete with hand gestures, jumping. So cute.
**Update: Nate informed me the other day that the "You can talk at home" biz is often directed to other kids...also related a cute story about a little girl who cried "before her momma came to pick her up." Awww. Nate radiates great concern about babies who are crying/unhappy. Today at the park a little girl was fussing in her stroller with her buckles and Nate said "She wants to get out!" So it makes a great impression when kids are unhappy at the Big School.

And that's the news!
Is that a new haircut too? Cute!
Great thing about preschool -- kids and Moms learn new tricks. Wish I'd known that Go to sleep, close eyes, now! Helps to have the other kids buying into it, though.
Well, a direct approach is good sometimes, since kids don't appreciate sarcasm, and the teachers are not going to nap (I don't think!) but I think there's a lot of crowd control involved!
Nate still crashes out on the sofa around 4:30pm if he's had a big day. I actually am getting a lot better about staying alert--it's really something how the body get trained and trained again. The dear sweet lad is in bed now (7:55!!) after a big day of Fairyland, tricycle riding and sunshine! :)
There's been a sub: the regular stern but ultimately loving Ms. Helen is on vacation to China and in her stead is the stern Ms.____. Hair pulled back, giant 80's glasses, Nate sees her and the lower lip starts to quiver, tears well up, "Don't want to!!"
"Want mamma to sit with you!!"
Oh Ms. Helen, we miss you terribly, pls. come back and tell Nate "Sleep now!" "You can talk at home!"
BTW, Ms. Helen got back on Monday and Nate was SO HAPPY! Big hugs and kisses! So I guess he did bond with the teachers there. He also LOVES playing "hands in lap!" "Have to wait to eat!" He shows momma how it's done!
