Doing some 'gardening' on a hot hot day

What to do on an April heat wave? Everything is watered, as are feet, shorts, bricks, bugs, leaves, etc...This rivaled last year's heat, getting close to 100 yesterday. Nate's big school turned on their playground misters, and the school was nice and cool, I was very impressed.
It's been strange going back to 'work' this week--it was so hot it was hard to concentrate at work, and I was very worried about Nate getting too hot at school, and I really just wanted to go home and take care of him. I think this three-day-a-week schedule is good for now.

Nate really did seem to have a little language explosion at the big school, with all the new stimulation, all the kids are so sweet, they really relate to each other too by age three.

When daddy drops off Nate in the morning, they sit together on the little sofa and all the kids come up to them to say hello and share things, like the little girl with a dish of (raw) rice: "Hi. I have rice!" Kind of like a petting zoo, but with preschoolers. Daddy said it would be fun if they gave you little things to feed them--that's what snacktime is for, I guess.

You have another hot day (Weds) and the temps go back to normal. Is that a lemon tree? Nate has a beautiful city garden.

Whoops, that last one was by me, too. Nice to get some cherry tomatoes in this year, too, fun for Nate to water stuff/eat it too. Especially since he apparently eats crackers and water all day at school now.

Nate's great grandad was a farmer who'd be pleased to see him getting an early start with plants. Looks fun and cool. 100 degrees!?!

Starting plants from seed can be fun, too. It's pretty amazing to see the little plants sprout up.
