Cabin time in old Guerneville

A short trip up north to the Russian River, Mendocino being dubbed "too far." Nate loved his little cabin, his new sofa, his new chair, his big fire. (The tv is covered to listen to our cd's.)
The Armstrong Redwoods, north of the river and the town, were of course a delight, it's a carefully managed preserve, with special forest clover called Redwood Sorrel one is instructed not to tread on. Lots of families were hiking, people were still camping, jogging, etc...the Colonel Armstrong tree is one of the few Old Growth guys left standing.
Nate is a wee bit bored in the woods and worked up a good naughty. Whatever. No one slept very well in the chilly/burning hot cabin. Mommy still hauled everyone to the woods.
Wish we'd had time to drive up into the hills and see how people really live...the town is a big resort and somewhat sleepy in the winter. The light was really blue and weak, since the sun went below the hills by 3pm.
Daddy and Nate skipped rocks in the still river and we all got good and muddy, just like the locals, by the time we left. Zu wishes we had a good and cheap co-op grocery like theirs at home.
Nate loved the trip and said "Nate's on a car trip!" in the backseat most of the way there, we'll have to go on more trips with the sprout.
Other than that, Nate is becoming more observant about human anatomy. His preschool teachers didn't blink when I told them he likes to say "Mama habs [sic] boobies!" They suggested a simple anatomy book!
Also working on the guitar stylings, singing "songs" about getting your shoes on. Loves to sing along with his musical toys now, too.

He's getting so grown up! What a lucky boy to go on a big trip with Mom and Dad to a great new place.
